NFC - Near Field Communication (contactless payment)
NFC – Near Field Communication – is a transmission technology for the contactless exchange of data. In payment transactions, this technology was initially implemented for credit cards, but it is now also possible with giro cards. The same security regulations apply to contactless payments as to traditional authorized payments. Up to an amount of €25, the customer does not have to enter a PIN or provide a signature. Nevertheless, the payment is guaranteed for the merchant. Contactless payment requires an NFC-enabled terminal and an NFC-enabled credit card or debit card. You can see whether your card is NFC-enabled by the WLAN-like symbol printed on it.
